D-Tech Forum 2025. Victor Negrescu calls on Romania to contribute to the future European Competitiveness Plan.

The Vice-President of the European Parliament, Victor Negrescu, will open on May 30 the first edition of the D-Tech Forum 2025 in Bucharest, a regional summit organized by V+O Communication, which aims to align visions on digitalization and cybersecurity in the context of the European Competitiveness Plan. The event will address the collaboration between the three main groups involved in this pan-European endeavour: legislators, executive authorities and the private sector.

The event, which will take place at the National Bank of Romania, will be attended by ministers and representatives of Romanian institutions responsible for digitalization and cybersecurity, along with top figures from the private sector, including CEOs, CISOs, CIOs, CTOs, as well as cybersecurity experts from other countries in the region. Specialists from the European Parliament and decision-makers from other states’ authorities will also be present, with the aim of discussing Romania’s involvement in the initiative launched by Victor Negrescu in March in Brussels.

“We launched the debates in Brussels on how the European Union should respond to global technological challenges, while reducing the differences between Member States in terms of access to digital resources, within the framework of the future European Competitiveness Plan. D-Tech Forum 2025 will be a good opportunity to discuss concretely how we can actively involve Romania and Romanian IT&C companies in building a Digital Europe by 2030, based on fair access to technology, sustainable innovation and modern digital infrastructure”, declares Victor Negrescu, Vice-President of the European Parliament.

Among the guests are Bogdan Ivan – Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Marius Moisescu – Dean of the Faculty of Automation and Informatics, Polyethnic University, Ciprian Dobre – Vice-Rector of the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest, Gabriela Folcuț, Executive Director of the Romanian Association of Banks, Sergiu Zaharia, Director of Cyber ​​Strategy Advisory, Deloitte, representatives of other institutions as well as experts in digitalization and cybersecurity, from Romania and other countries.

Some of the topics proposed to be debated are ensuring democratic access to digital society and services, AI applications in the automation of digital services, applications for 5G/6G networks and technology, universal access to electronic payments, ensuring confidentiality versus the fight against terrorism, regulating cybersecurity, the human factor in assessing cyber risks, but also more technical ones such as the security of mobile devices or protecting equipment in IoT.

“D-Tech Forum 2025 is designed to bring together over 20 experts from Romania and other countries, who will share their knowledge with the 230 participants. We have created the perfect context for like-minded professionals to discuss the common challenges they face, establish new business connections and new joint projects. We aim for the first edition to represent a first step in shaping the public-private effort to increase the impact of digitalization in Romania in the coming years,” says Eugen Ilea, director of V+O Communication.
